The new mandatory electronic invoice, what is it and how does it affect me?

We inform you that as of July 1, 2025, a new obligation will come into force regarding the way in which we all issue invoices.

From that date, it will no longer be possible to issue invoices through an Excel or Word spreadsheet or by filling in an invoice book.

The Anti-Fraud Law will make it compulsory to issue invoices through an approved invoicing software. The aim is to guarantee the integrity, conservation, legibility, traceability and unalterability of the invoicing records.

How does it affect you?

The Anti-Fraud Law obliges companies and freelancers to have an approved invoicing software Verifactu or system for issuing verifiable invoices to send them to the Tax Agency, which allows:

1. Invoicing record.
2. Sending records to the Tax Agency.
3. Event registration.
4. Identification of each record with a QR.

The Anti-Fraud Law affects all companies or freelancers that issue invoices and are based in the national territory.

• Deadline for mandatory implementation: July 1st, 2025.
• Penalties of €50,000 per fiscal year with anomalies.
• The simple fact of having installed a non-approved invoicing system is already a reason for a sanction.
